# Week 6 - Scene Optimization

" Retrace your steps "

The previous render (image) took roughly 6 hours to finish. Which was very problematic. If I could not have rendered everything in time I would not have been able to showcase my work. I had the same problem again this week.

Problems should most definitely not be rushed, it takes time and patience to figure them out properly.

I went through my scene again and made changes which decreased the render time by an hour, which is a lot in terms of render time. By making so many mistakes with my previous render has made this week's challenges a bit easier.

I divided my scene into the background (this includes everything except the characters) and then the characters. With the scene divided into two layers, I had more control over the scene and the display of the layers. The pre-composition was much easier to work with after the two layers had been created. I denoised each layer on its own and finalized the final compiling.

Final Outcome of the Week:

Correcting my mistakes didn't take very long, the render time was once again my main problem. I removed all of my previous pre-composition nodes and preparations and started from scratch. Retracing my steps helped me to reduce the render time.
